The exceptionally high yielding soft feed wheat
Yield potential
- Exceptionally high yielding soft feed wheat
- Excellent yields in both first and second wheat situations
- Robust all round disease resistance profile
- Resistant to orange wheat blossom midge
- Stiff straw, giving excellent standing ability

Disease resistance

Growth habit
- Very stiff straw of moderate/short length
- Monty has an intermediate growth habit and as a result is suitable for drilling at the beginning of September

Agronomy
Local conditions may vary, so always consult your local agronomist and adapt to local conditions.
Seed rate
Seed rates are dependent on soil conditions, rotation and time of drilling. The more difficult the environment, the higher the seed rate needs to be to compensate for potential plant loss. Suggested seeds per square metre are shown below, these should always be used in conjunction with TGW.
- Mid – late September: 220-275 seeds/m2
- Mid October onwards: 275-300 seeds/m2
Core fungicide programme
- T0 - Cherokee 1.0lt/ha (only in high risk Septoria situations) +/- triazole if increased rust risk
- T1 - Cherokee 1.5lt/ha. Apply Unix at 0.5kg/ha if high risk of eyespot
- T2 - Amistar Opti 1.25lt/ha + triazole (half to three quarter rate)
- T3 - Amistar 0.5lt/ha + triazole (quarter to half rate)
Nitrogen application
- Standard Nitrogen input programme for a feed variety, typically not exceeding 180kgs N/ha
- 30-40% of total dose in early March
- Remainder of the total dose (60-70%) mid-late April
PGRs
- Monty has stiff straw giving it excellent standing ability
- To protect against lodging, apply chlormequat 1.25lt/ha + Moddus 0.2lt/ha at GS30-31
- In low plant populations, Moddus will help root stimulation and promote tiller numbers
Grain quality
Monty has below average total nitrogen levels and average viscosity levels combined with low protein, making it suitable for starch extraction demands
